Sportmanship is Key!

Don't forget why you are at the event
~ to learn and have fun! ~

The purpose of this event is to bring together 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students from different elementary, intermediate, and middle schools for a fun, yet challenging, competitive experience. Both physical and academic skills will be addressed as the individual runners of each relay team answer ten basic math facts questions and negotiate an obstacle course 50 yards long. Each team will be comprised of twenty students (10 boys and 10 girls). It does not make any difference what grade level the team members are in, as long as they are all in the 4th, 5th, or 6th grade, or any combination of these grades. Some schools may choose to send only teams comprised of one particular grade level, while others may send teams of multi-grade students. We hope the following information will be helpful in deciding whether you would like to participate in this event this year. Hope to see you there!!!

Sportsmanship Is KEY!

Sportsmanship is an essential part of the Math Relay. All teams and coaches are expected to demonstrate sportsmanship throughout the entire event. We hope that all participants will encourage others to have fun and make their best effort during the competition. Sportsmanship trophies will be given to three teams that best exemplify this philosophy. Remember this event is for the kids. Winning should not be the only focus!

Rewards of Participation!

Every team will get a ribbon for participating. Teams placing 1st through 5th will receive a trophy and all other teams a plaque.

New for 2006: There will also be an award given to the "Coolest T-shirt" worn by participants!

Pictured here are last years trophies and team plaques.
